Professor Nelsen considers race for governor
Brent Nelsen, Furman Political Science department chair and professor, is very seriously considering entering South Carolina's 2012 race for governor, and would be the first Furman professor to do so. On Feb. 26, he announced an "exploration" campaign and his sincere interest in running for the state's highest position in June and, hopefully, again in November 2010.

University presents first annual Furman Engaged!

What do a music ensemble in the library, undergraduate research presentations, the 2009 International Photo Contest and a Plant Banquet have in common? These and many more events involving every single academic department and almost 500 students all compose the Furman University's first annual Furman Engaged! which is being held instead of classes on Friday, April 3.

Crippling economy affects senior job outlook

Many Americans are inevitably accepting the reality that our country is in a severe economic crisis, as house foreclosures, stimulus packages and job lay offs consistently overflow the headlines of major media outlets. College students, especially seniors, are facing the dilemma of pursuing a career in the dwindling job market.
