For the past year and a half, GCSU has been working with the Georgia Department of Transportation, as well as the city of Milledgeville, to install a new red light at the intersection of West Campus Drive and the 441 bypass.

After originally being approved, many budget cuts and discussions about the light have led to the conclusion it is unnecessary.

After three years of construction, a record is being broken in West Virginia. The nation's longest continuous segmental span bridge is almost complete over the Kanawha River linking Dunbar and South Charleston.

When completely finished, the bridge will carry eastbound traffic on I-64 in order to improve safety and alleviate congestion from the existing bridge, which will then hold all westbound traffic.

Associate Professor of Physics Dr. Derek Jokisch recently received the 2010 Elda E. Anderson Award at the 55th Annual Health Physics Society (HPS) Conference.

The award honors Elda E. Anderson, a physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project and went on to become a pioneer in the field of health physics and a founding member of HPS.

The FMU Performing Arts Center that is currently being built should be ready for its grand gala at some point between late August and early September.

The construction has brought with it some special challenges that were made worse by the weather. Mike Ritchey, the Director of Facilities Engineering and Maintenance, said that rain had caused the deep orchestra pit to look more like a mud hole than part of the construction.
